For Pastry:

  • 300 grams Flour
  • 75 grams Butter
  • 75 grams Vegetable Fat
  • 5-6 tablespoons Water

For Filling:

  • 1 large Onion, diced
  • 2 medium Carrots, diced
  • 500 grams Minced Beef
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Purée
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Marmite
  • 1 tablespoon Plain Flour
  • Salt & Pepper
  • 2 medium Potatoes, Diced

The Pastry:

  1. Rub the fat into the flour
  2. Add the water
  3. Leave to the side to rest

The Filling:

  1. Fry the onion, in some oil.
  2. Add the mince and brown gently
  3. Add some water and all the rest of the ingredients.
  4. Bring to the boil and simmer until veg is soft.
  5. Thicken up with the flour.

To Put Together:

  1. Roll out pastry and line medium pie dishes with it.
  2. Put filling in to the pastry case.
  3. Cover with more pastry and piece the centre to let out steam.
  4. Repeat until all pie dishes are filled.
  5. Brush some milk/egg on top of the pies, and place in the oven pre- heated to 200˚C for about 40 minutes.
