Cheese and Onion PastiesThis cheesy pasty is a delicious alternative to the regular Cornish pasty and is quick and easy to make. A rich and comforting pasty full of cheesy goodness, not good for the waistline but utterly satisfying!

{tab Ingredients} 

  • 900 grams Shortcrust Pastry
  • 450 grams Onions, peeled and sliced
  • 450 grams Mature Cheddar, grated
  • 2 tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Beaten Egg for glazing

{tab Instructions} 

  1. Heat the oven to 200°C.
  2. Roll out the pastry and cut out circles 20 cm in diameter.
  3. Heat the oil and cook the onions in it until starting to soften.
  4. Take off the heat and cool. Stir in the grated cheese and season well.
  5. Divide the mixture between the 6 circles and crimp the edges together.
  6. Brush with a little of the beaten egg.
  7. Put on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes until the pastry is golden.
  8. Serve hot or cold
