Taming the wildness called my garden, and hopefully managing to grow fruit & veg.
I stay 50 meters from the sea front, so there's lots of salt in the air here, so thats a challenge on its own.
Articles about growing things, and hopefully tips and tricks on how to grow certain plants
Starting a vegetable garden at home is an easy way to save money -- that tomato plant can easily provide you with 10 pounds of fruit over the course of a season.
But planting a garden with vegetables also gives you the pleasure of savoring a delicious, sun-warmed tomato fresh from the garden. In almost every case, the flavor and texture of varieties you can grow far exceed grocery store produce.
Plus, growing vegetables can be fun. It's a great way to spend time with children or have a place to get away and spend time outdoors in the sun.

World’s Scariest Drug Can Block Free Will, Wipe Your Memory, & Even Kill.
In the crime ridden streets of Columbia, urban myths tell of the horrors surrounding a local drug nicknamed “the devil’s breath.”
The drug’s real name is scopolamine, an anticholinergic drug derived from a number of trees native to South America. Hailed in a 2013 Vice documentary as ‘the world’s scariest drug,’ scopolamine is known to turn its user (or victim rather) into a docile zombie ready to do exactly what its perpetrator wants.
In an attempt to learn more about the mysterious underground drug, Vice’s Ryan Duffy flew down to South America to interview those who deal the drug as well those who’ve fallen victim to it.
One drug dealer out of the capital Bogota claims the most frightening part about the drug is its simple method of administration, which can see the colorless, odorless drug blown in the faces of its victims, taking effect almost instantaneously.
When we decided to look for a bigger house to rent, we decided we wanted a garden, well what I got was and overgrown, unloved large piece of land, so it was a case of where to start first, we want to grow lots of veg and fruit, but in reality, we need to learn how to garden in a very hot arid country, the first year in and we grew some veg and it was a disaster, we had a major problem with the water and needed to get a new storage tank fitted, which did not connect properly to the existing irrigation system, so that was our first job, so this year started to clear the ground and try and fix the irrigation system, so I don't have to stand for hours with a hose pipe, which is not really long enough to stretch the full garden.
As you can see on the left is a pic of how my garden was looking, at the begining of this year, and through the article you will see the diffrence.
It’s known to pop up as a persistent weed in gardens, on lawns and even in driveway cracks. But plantain is one of the most medicinally powerful “nuisance” plants that you probably aren’t taking advantage of for your health, perhaps to your own detriment.
Those bushy green leaves and small, stalk-like buds bear unique nutritive potential that could help you overcome difficult menstrual cycles, clear up skin acne and even treat painful arthritis.
For hundreds of years, plantain has been used as one of nature’s most powerful medicines, and for very good reason.
Plantain works topically as a wound-healer
Who hasn’t seen those pesky yellow weeds pop up in the garden from time to time? Yet try as you might – from picking them to poisoning them – nothing keeps them at bay for too long.
Perhaps it’s time you embraced the tenacious dandelion and all the benefits it can bring?
The Health Benefits of Dandelions
Dandelion has been used throughout history to treat everything from liver problems and kidney disease to heartburn and appendicitis.
Every part of this common weed – from the roots to the blossoms – is edible. It’s a good thing too, as the humble dandelion is bursting with vitamins A, B, C and D, as well as minerals such as iron, potassium and zinc.
The best way to ensure that a plant grows to its maximum potential is to give it want it needs. In the case of basil, it is a lot of warmth, plenty of bright sunlight and ample moisture. If you provide these, your basil seedlings will grow fast to become large plants, providing you with plenty of leaves for your pesto.
If you keep your basil in the tiny pot it came in, you are not going to have a large, luxurious plant, even if you provide water and fertilizers regularly. The roots need space to stretch out, so transplant it into a larger pot or plant it out in the garden.
If you are growing your plants from seeds, start them indoors early so that they will be ready to go outside when warm weather arrives. Use warm grow lights or heating mats to keep your basil seedlings warm. A constant temperature of 21°C is ideal.
